The Monthly Word: On Philippians 2:4
by Bro. Michael Catledge

BroMCatledge"Each of you should look not to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." (Philippians 2:4) The Apostle Paul wrote these words within an epistle to the people of Philippi in an effort to get them to be more like Christ in their dealings with their fellow man. This passage is one that reaches to the heart of the current push within our congregation to insure that Flipper Chapel continually strives to maintain an integral and influencial stance within the surrounding Bond Community. A question was recently posed--If a tornado should come roaring through the neighborhood and wipe our sanctuary clear off its foundations, would Flipper Chapel be missed by the area's residents? My friends, what would your answer be? Do you honestly feel that our congregation as a whole has lived up to it's obligations, required by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to our fellow man. Have we thus far imitated Christ's humility in our dealings with those less fortunate than ourselves right here in the Bond Community? I do not dare venture to answer these questions on anyone else's behalf but my own. However, regardless of your own sentiments, surely more can always be accomplished. Flipper Chapel is geared to celebrating its Diamond Jubilee and thus far those who have participated in the planning sessions are under one accord...we must do more. So, as you tarry into the wonderful edifice in which to worship His name that God has so graciously blessed this congregation, as you relax in our richly upholstered pews and praise God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon you and your family, take just a minute out of your day and look over the Jubilee sign-up sheets posted in the foyer. Find out which committee best suits your talents and capabilities and add you name to the growing list of those who have already made a commitment to make certain when next these same questions are posed to this congregation in a year's time, the answer to all will be a resounding...YES!"

God bless us one and all,

Bro. Michael Catledge

The Imani Offering: "Our Beginnings"

RevIFBradley

This month for our 'Imani Offering' and to help kick-off Flipper's "Jubilee Year", Praise brings you an account of Flipper Chapel's meager beginnings based on research compiled and handwritten by the late Rev. I.F. Bradley, a past pastor of Flipper and august patriarch of one of Flipper's beloved church families. We certainly hope that by gaining knowledge of Flipper's humbles origins our readers will be invigorated to help insure Flipper's promising future! Please click the title to read more.
