Orlando, Here We Come!
During the weekend of Feb. 23-25, the Flipper Chapel Youth Church will journey in mass to Orlando for the annual Black Heritage Festivities. This highly anticipated event features various competitions for youths of all ages designed to instill pride in the rich, colorful and mutltifaceted heritage of the African American Community. While many of the activites offered are voluntary, all youth participants are required to memoraize and recite a poem authored by a Black American. This year our very own Inspirational Dance Team (above) is geared to compete as well. As many of you may know, our youth have been diligently praticing all month in hopes that each and every one of our young ambassadors will be well prepared to do Flipper proud at Black Heritage. Sis. Ruby Edwards, Bro. Michael Catledge, Sis. Arryal Middleton, and Sis. Sevette Clark would like to thank all of the children and their parents who have given of there time and effort in assisting with the all the rehearsals that have taken and will take place throughout the month. On a related note, Florida Conference T-shirts are still available. The YPD has asked that all registered participants journeying to Orlando purchase a T-shirt so that we can properly represent our conference as a group united in pride and faith. Please contact Sis. Pride if you have not already purchased this \$10.00 item. We certainly wish our youth well and God's blessings in Orlando and pray that all participants will remain safe and healthy during the journey. You Betta' Recognize!
| Next month the Sarah Doyle Way Area WMS/YPD will host the third annual Youth Recognition Ceremony/Night in Green and White on Sunday, March 11 at St. Phillip (Monticello) AME Church. The Flipper Chapel YPD has selected two youths, Miss Shebrennia Nelson (left) and Master Christopher Underhill (not shown) as our Youth Recognition competitors for this year's event. Last year our very own Miss Ashlee Worlds won the cometition and it is hoped that all Flipperites might assist these two individuals in keeping this tradition alive. Shebrennia and Christopher would both appreciate your full support in this endeavor by purchasing advertising space in the 2001 Night in Green and White Commemorative Booklet. Ad prices are: whole page (\$100), half-page ($50), quarter-page ($25). Ads from others, as well as patron donations, are also appreciated, with donor's names published on a 'Patron's' page. For more inforamtion, please see Shernrennia or Chris, or contact Sis. Lucy Pride, the Sarah Doyle Way Area/YPD director. |
