Rattlers United to Strike!

ClassOf50The Leon County Chapter of the FAMU National Alumni Association is currently seeking new members. At a time when the Association is pushing for a voice in the selections of a new interim and permanent president to lead FAMU after the upcoming departure of Dr. Frederick Humphries on June 1, and given the coming transition period following the abolishment of the Board of Regents, now would be an opportune time for all Rattler graduates in the community to unite under the umbrella of the local chapter and "strike" by making your presence known in the capital. To join, please contact Sis. Julie Catledge.

At The Center

YouthShootsThis month at the Bond Community's Walker-Ford Community Center there will be three events that should be of note to our readers:
  • On Saturday, March 3 the Center will host a Gospel Extravaganza between the hours of 6-10pm. Featuring a "parade of choirs" from throughout the Greater Tallahassee area, the event promises to be a memorable one full of spirit-food for the soul.
  • Beginning on Monday, March 19 and lasting until Thursday, March 22 the Center will offer a Spring Break Basketball Tournament for youths ages 12 to 15. All interested are asked to come down and participate.
  • On Friday, March 23 there will be a Talent Show at the Center. Intended to showcase the great abundance and variety of talent prevalent in the community, the event is certainly one not to missed. Organizers are requesting a minimal $2.00 donation at the door.
As Walker-Ford was established in part by the tireless efforts of our very own Dr. C.E. Walker, we encourage one an all to support the Center in its endeavor to provide meaningful activities and other events that might serve to deter our youth from failing prey to the many malevolent influences to which they are exposed on a continual basis.
