In The Pulpit
Bishop John Hurst Adams This month The Right Rev. Dr. John Hurst Adams, the newly-appointed presiding bishop of the 11th Episcopal District of the AME Church, will be in attendance at the Florida Annual Conference, held at Bethel AME Church on Aug 12-19. We are certainly proud to welcome our new prelate, who is currently the senior bishop on the AME Episcopal Council, and wish him, Dr. Dolly Desselle Adams, and their family much success in the district. We will also have the pleasure, once again, of welcoming our beloved presiding elder, Rev. Ralph Wilson, back in the pulpit in August. Rev. Wilson will be presiding at our long-awaited mortgage burning ceremony, to be held tentively on Aug 13.

"To God Be The Glory!"
My God is truly a great and magnificent God! As you can see, Praise has a new look and a new address! Our continued success has made it necessary for the new changes to accommodate growth and ease the "surfabilty" of the site. You can now activate your own free email account, search the web, chat, and/or participate in your own discussions regarding church issues online via our new Community Forum. We hope you enjoy the new features and certainly welcome any input you might have regardign further ways we might improve Praise. That said, my, we AMEers have much to be thankful for this month as we look back at the 46th Quadrennial Session of the General Conference and say a collective--AMEN! In case you haven't heard already, history has been made. The AME Church has finally stepped into the new millennium and elected its first female bishop. Considering that women make up approximately 70% of the overall congregation--its 'bout time! Congratulations to the now Right Rev. Dr. Vashti McKenzie on your new elevation. Additionally, as we Flipperites look forward to burning the church mortgage this month we at Praise wish again to thank our Heavenly Father for the many blessings He continues to rain down on our great church. We are also thankful that this year's Vacation Bible School was such a great success. Indeed, the event was truly blessed. This month we look forward to the convening of Flipper's Quarterly Conference; the Florida Annual Conference; and, hopefully, the erection of Flipper Chapel's long-overdue new marquee. Well, once again, thank you for your continued fellowship and support and, of course, if you live in or plan to visit our beautiful city of Tallahassee, don't forget to stop by and help us sing His praises for--at the "Little Church in the Bond Community Where Everybody is Somebody Special!"--you are always most certainly welcome.
They Got Their Stuff Back!
Due to the pressing church schedule and other factors last month, we at Praise regret that we were not able to bring to our readers news of Flipper's highly successful and truly inspiring Church Woman's Conference which took place on the weekend of June 19-21. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused and, to rectify, as promised this month we happily feature the event on a special page. The three day event was definately a joy to behold and it can certainly be said of the many woman (and others) whom attended--they truly got their stuff back! Sis. Laura Adams (seen above, far right) outdid herself as the event organizer. To find out more, please read the Church Woman's Conference Commemorative Page.
